    The Polish authorities decided to reintroduce border checks at its internal borders between 22nd November and 16th December, 2018.

    Ahead of the 24th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climat Changes (COP24) summit in Katowice, Poland, the Polish authorities decided to reintroduce border checks at its internal borders. This measure will come into force on Thursday 22nd November, 2018, and will be applied until Sunday 16th December, 2018. 

     

    The internal borders of Poland will remain open for cross-border traffic at all Times. The passengers may however be checked at border crossing points or in their close vicinity.

     

    Application of the measure mentioned above follows in accordance with Art. 23 of Regulation (EC) No 562/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 March 2006 establishing a Community Code on the rules governing the movement of persons across borders (Schengen Borders Code).

     

    Similar measures were implemented during the EURO 2012, COP19 in Warsaw in 2013 and NATO Summit 2016.
